Wednesday, November 12, 2008 07:01pm - 09:31pm SOUND: MOCA Meets the Cleveland Orchestra $25.00
You’ve never seen or heard The Cleveland Orchestra quite like this--provocative, contemporary, and dare we say edgy? Just how MOCA likes it. Reflecting the vivid pulse and vibrant meter of our fall exhibition, The Orchestra has compiled a series of modern works to be performed in our space. The vibe is amplified with a secret passage through Jorge Pardo: HOUSE and unexpected quirky details that only MOCA can put together.
We expect this event to sell out quickly. Reservations are required, and may be made by calling Andrea Kormos at 216.421.8671. Tickets are $25 and include the performance and light refreshments. |

Wednesday, November 5, 2008 06:30pm - 12:00pm Visiting Curator Talk: Douglas Dreishpoon FREE
If you drew a line between MOCA Cleveland and the Albright-Knox Art Gallery in Buffalo, New York, it would be 197.2 miles long, the distance that Douglas Dreishpoon, Senior Curator of the Albright-Knox, will travel in November to serve as the fall 2008 Nesnadny + Schwartz Visiting Curator.
Lines play an important role in Dreishpoon's current projects. They form the vocabulary for two artists who will be presented in major solo exhibitions at the Albright-Knox: Argentine art phenom, Guillermo Kuitca, and Buffalo-born/Cleveland-educated contemporary art master, Robert Mangold. In his public talk at MOCA, Dreishpoon will elaborate on how lines and drawing bleed into forms and painting in both artists' oeuvres. There may be lines to hear this lecture, so plan ahead.
Dreishpoon will visit the studios of a handful of Northeast Ohio artists during his trip. If you would like to apply for a studio visit or learn more about Dreishpoon, visit MOCAcleveland.org/nesnadny or call 216.421.8671 ext. 26 for details.
