This exhibition series was created in memory of Wendy L. Moore, an
inspiring artist and native Clevelander who died in 1997 as the result
of an accident. To continue Wendy’s spirit, the Moore family
sponsors an annual exhibition at the Museum of Contemporary Art Cleveland
devoted to furthering the career of a young female artist in our region.
This opportunity includes a professionally mounted exhibition, a full-color,
scholarly catalogue, and a substantial stipend for the artist. This
series has helped to launch the professional careers of its recipients
through exposure in the art world and advancing their opportunities
to pursue future exhibitions, grants, and awards.
This series has also helped its recipients gain exposure in the art
world and has opened up curatorial, grant and both regional and national
exhibition opportunities. Past recipients of this award are: Sarah
Kabot (2006), Alicia Basinger (2005), Carmen Ruiz-Davila (2004). Angela
White (2003). Lori Kella (2002). Tara Giannini (2001). Christa Donner
(2000). Wendy L. Moore (1999).
Mr. and Mrs. Dan T. Moore generously underwrite the Wendy L. Moore
Emerging Artist Series at the Museum of Contemporary Art Cleveland
annually.
We are currently not accepting applications for the Wendy L Moore program
for Summer 2009, please check back for exciting updates on this program.
